July, 2009:

Horse Racing Back/Lay Bets 5th July

Mixed day yesterday with one winner and one loser. Our losing race had two non runners declared so some of you may have chosen to skip that one. Today’s card doesn’t hold much appeal so these selections are somewhat tentative and I wouldn’t be putting the mortage on. However I will be betting myself unless withdrawals or severe market moves indicate otherwise.

BACK
2.10 Ayr – Lucky Buddha
4.00 Brighton – Rose of Coma

LAY (max SP 2.5)
4.10 Ayr – Tom Tower

The Betdaq £25 free bet is back

You may remember that Betdaq used to offer a free bet when you joined them, but this was discontinued last autumn. Well I’m pleased to inform you that I’ve recently been told that the free bet is back – hopefully for good this time!
Betdaq free bet
Why would you join Betdaq? Well for one thing, lower commission. There’s no premium charge on successful accounts, plus they offer just 2% commission for bets placed in running. There’s also the possibility of getting better odds. There may not be as much liquidity as on Betfair, but there’s generally plenty for most people to get their bets matched.

And just like with the bookies, there can be differences in price betwen the exchanges which could see you get matched at moer favourable odds. It always pays to shop around for the best prices in the long term, plus of course you get £25 free.

Horse Racing Lay Bets 4th July

Happy independence day to you all.

We had a pretty good day yesterday. Our lay bets didn’t qualify on price (too high) and neither did our back of Highland Storm (too low). Of the three remaining bets that did meet the price criteria, we had a return on our each way bet on Leftontheshelf which placed at 14/1 and a winner on Pseudonym which came in at 4/1 (or 5.8 Betfair SP). Hope you got on and made a few quid yesterday.

There are no back bets today but a couple of potential lay bets should they go off at 2.5 or below:

Lay (Max SP 2.5)
3.20 Beverley – Burns Night
3.55 Beverley – Spiders Star

Horse Racing Back/Lay Bets July 3rd

One non runner yesterday and the other priced way too high so no bet. Today we have two potential lay bets and unusually, four horses I’m interested in backing at the same meeting. I will go 1/2 a point each way on two of them and a straight win bet on the others.

LAY (Max SP 2.5)
4.35 Sandown – Alpen Glen
4.45 Doncaster – Royal Dignitary

BACK
2.10 Warwick – Highland Storm
4.20 Warwick – Leftontheshelf (Each way)
4.55 Warwick – Pseudonym
5.25 Warwick – Monaadi (Each way)

To back each way at Betfair place half your stake on the horse in the win market and half in the place market. You can get a free £25 from Betfair when you open an account (even if you already have one).

2nd July Horse Racing Lay Bets

Decent result yesterday with Top Mark beaten at 1.65 BSP. Today we have a couple more possibilities. I’m not sure at this stage whether they will qualify on price, so as usual lay them only if the SP is 2.5 or below otherwise no bet.

2.10 Haydock - Sweet Hollow
4.30 Yarmouth – Iceman George
