We had a winner and a loser yesterday. With the losing lay being odds on, it left us with a small profit on the day.

I’ve decided to take a week or so off and catch some last minute sunshine, therefore next update and bets will probably be Saturday 26th.

For today I think it may be worth laying Captain Flasheart  in the 1.40 at Yarmouth. Has a chance, but the price looks a bit too short.

Successful lay yesterday, also good to get off to a winning start with the first football bet of the season, all wrapped up before half time. I have a couple of potential lays today…

I will also back over 2.5 goals at 2.02 in the Spurs v Man Utd game, kick off 17.30.

Today, Twice Over in the 3.10 at Doncaster has a chance but is way too short at a predicted 8/11 so I will oppose on a value bet basis.

A couple of bets for today. I have also been testing the Protege system over the past few weeks and also using my results data to back test the system. If any of you have used this system I would be interested to know your thoughts before I compile a review, both in terms of results and how easy you have found it to use.

Neither bet actually qualified on price yesterday – if you did decide to lay them anyway there was a winner and a loser. Covert Ambition was the closest to qualifying on price and was the successful of the two lays.

Today I’ll break from the lays and have a bit of a back bet. My horse is Street Power in the 3.50 at Lingfield and is currently an appetising 2.72 on Betfair. I can see this being backed in to a much shorter price throughout the day so get on as early as you can if you’re going to back this.

Good result yesterday, the price kept low and the horse was well beaten. Today there are two possibilities. In the 3.40 at Redcar I would be happy to oppose the projected favourite Collateral Damage but I’m not sure the price will drop low enough to fit my criteria. One to monitor though and if I can reduce the liability by trading it then I will.

In the 5.35 at Salisbury, I will also lay Covert Ambition on the same basis.

Just one race of interest today which is the 3.30 at Brighton. Seneschal may well have enough to win, but odds on? Win or lose, this looks a value lay to me.
