Psycho Lays Dogs

I was asked to review this service by a subscriber and, having never previously found a greyhound betting system or service that actually worked, I was only too pleased to investigate.

Psycho Lays Dogs is a greyhound lay betting service in which the author identifies dogs most likely to lose their races for you to lay on Betfair. Selections are provided daily by e-mail. An e-mail is also sent if there are no selections on a particular day.

The service runs in cycles of variable length. The idea is that it switches off during unsuccessful periods, and switches on during profitable ones. I ran a test for an entire cycle which ran between 24th June 2009 and 23rd July 2009. The system then switched off again, you will need to check the Psycho Lays Dogs website or contact the author for information about when it is likely to switch on again.

For the purposes of my trial, I used Bet Bot Pro to place the bets for me 40 seconds before the scheduled start of the race. I felt that this was a fair representation of how people would use the service, as few people will be willing or able to be at their computer all day in order to place bets manually.

The results I got from the bot tallied exactly with the official results given by the author, and those displayed on the website, therefore I would conclude that in my opinion, all results claimed under this service are genuine.

However, during the trial period I missed a few days’ selections due to being unavailable to switch the bot on. There were also a few races which did not appear on the Betfair coupon, and a couple of occasions when the bot didn’t fire the bet off. This could be because I had it set to a maximum price of 19.0 so any dogs that were trading at higher than this would not have been laid.

During my trial, the bot bet in 65 races, winning 57  bets and losing 8. Unfortunately some of the losing bets were layed at steepish prices of 16.0, 15.0 and 11.0 and 9.8 which meant that overall there was a loss of 15.9 points.

However, if you were to factor in the selections which my bot did not bet on for the reasons already mentioned, the results change significantly. Had all selections been bet, the service would have made 90 successful bets out of 99, with an overall profit of 12.5 points in the one month period.

To achieve this profit you would have had to bet on every selection including those which did not appear on Betfair – this could have been achieved by dutching the other five runners in the race at the bookmakers.

Overall I found this to be a professionally run service. E-mails were received in plenty of time before the race and any queries were answered quickly and politely. As long as you are able to bet on all selections, I would expect that you would make a profit by using the service in the future.

My thanks to Martin for a very fair review.

As Martin stated, the system is switched on during periods when it is calculated to be profitable and switched off when not. This is determined by mathematical probabilities.

When the system is switched off, I do not charge customers. If the system switches off mid-membership, excess funds are either returned to the customer or rolled-over to the next switch on period, depending upon the customer’s wishes.

The other thing to note about this service is that the selections very often drift on Betfair. Therefore, a partial arbitrage of the bet (a lay bet followed by a back bet), will allow the selection to be layed at odds approaching, or even bettering, SP.
