PREVIEW
Arsene Wenger continues his quest for his first piece of silverware since the 2005 FA Cup against Ipswich Town this evening. The Trotters come into the clash off the back of a 7-0 humiliation against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Paul Jewell has been handed the task of rescuing Ipswich’s season, but he will not officially take charge until after tonight’s clash. A game against the Gunners is the last thing the side would wish for after the demolition at Stamford Bridge and they are on a terrible run of form to make matters worse.

Seven defeats in the past nine games will cause plenty of concern for those brave punters backing a home win at around 10.0 on the ‘Daq’. Interestingly, the last time these two clubs met in this competition – Ipswich won 2-1.

The Gunners must travel to Upton Park at the weekend, so Wenger is likely to stick to form and rest his key starters. Leeds United forced an FA Cup replay against Arsenal, but United are pushing for promotion and are at the opposite end of the table.

Other than a 4-1 extra-time victory against Tottenham, Arsenal have cruised through to the semi-finals and I fully expect them to be in an excellent position for a trip to Wembley after tonight. At 1.37 the Gunners don’t represent much value, so back them on the HT/FT market at around 1.97.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Arsenal HT/FT at 1.97: 6 points

PREVIEW
After tonight’s mouth-watering clash between Arsenal and Manchester City we should have a far clearer idea of which club has the better title credentials. The Gunners were terrific when these sides met at Eastlands as they ran in three goals – albeit after City were reduced to ten men.

Punters looking to back Arsene Wenger’s side at around 1.86 may be aware that City have not won at Arsenal since 1975, losing 20 of the 27 clashes in North London. City will also have to make do without the attacking threat of Mario Balotelli and David Silva.

Three defeats in their nine home league games is not the form needed to win titles, but the Gunners are still in the hunt. Samir Nasri has continued his superb form and Cesc Fabregas is still improving after his injury setbacks.

Man City have once again been busy in the transfer window and have signed Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko – who boasts of a prolific scoring record in the Bundesliga. Those backing City at 4.8 on the ‘Daq’ will be disappointed to hear of more in-house fighting on the training pitches.

Roberto Mancini has built a reputation of packing the midfield and defending with numbers, so Arsenal may find it tough to break through at first. Eventually class will show and I expect City’s drought at Arsenal to continue.

RECOMMENDATION:
(1-10 points)
Back Arsenal at around 1.86: 5 points
