William Hill Horse Racing: Show ‘em Hughes boss – Goodwood top jock betting

Richard Hughes is hot 6-4 favourite with William Hill to continue his Glorious Goodwood domination and lift the Racing UK-sponsored top jockey crown for a third successive season.

Richard Hannon’s stable jockey ransacked the Glorious meeting in 2010 when visiting the winner’s enclosure a record nine times, before following up on his title with five victories in the bag last year. The in-form Hughes yesterday replaced Ryan Moore at the head of Hill’s Flat Jockeys’ Championship betting as 10-11 favourite.

Ryan Moore, who nailed William Buick late on for the Royal Ascot title, is next in the betting at 9-4, with Buick quoted at 4-1 to turn the tables on the Sussex Downs.

Frankie Dettori, who was not far behind Hughes last year when securing four winners, is a 20-1-shot.

William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said, “Although Hannon doesn’t have the array of stable stars that we’ve seen in recent years going into Glorious Goodwood, he certainly doesn’t lack firepower with his army of two-year-olds, and we all know this meeting is where Hughes really comes into his own. However Gosden has been racking up the big-race wins this summer and Buick will be going in all guns blazing after his Ryan Moore Royal Ascot chinning’

Racing UK Trophy (Glorious Goodwood Leading Jockey): 6-4 Richard Hughes, 9-4 Ryan Moore, 4-1 William Buick, 16-1 Joe Fanning, 20-1 Joseph O’Brien, Frankie Dettori, Paul Hanagan, Tom Queally
